“We now have an amazing kitchen space, full of light, with French doors onto the garden”

Halo came highly recommended from my friend. Not only was she over the moon with what they’d done, she was really complementary about their work ethic, their attitude on site and how well they cleaned up after themselves!

Louis was great straight off the bat – enthusiastic and full of ideas. He was on site every day, and project managed our kitchen refurbishment from start to finish.

He oversaw the various sub-contractors – carpenter, plumber, electricians, bricklayer, roofer, plasterers, kitchen fitters, decorator, tilers and Andy the mastic man – and they were all hardworking, polite and tidy.

In addition to project managing, he was also really involved with the work itself, including stripping out our old kitchen, demolishing walls, installing beams, digging trenches for pipework, doing carpentry work, laying flooring, creating shelves from reclaimed scaffold boards, and finishing any snagging items.

Louis made sure the site was clean and tidy at the end of each day, that we had a temporary kitchen throughout the job, that materials were recycled whenever possible. He also told us when we needed to make important decisions, without making it too overwhelming, such as when to choose and order the worktop, the toilet and hand basin, the wall tiles, the flooring, the paint and the white goods.

And there were some nice touches that were really important to us, like retaining the glass arch above our kitchen door, coming up with a good solution for a particularly small bathroom and hiding an ugly boiler in a prominent position.

Where before we had a quirky, dark kitchen, a utility room that was used as a bit of a dumping ground and a 1970’s toilet, we now have an amazing kitchen space, full of light, with French doors onto the garden and a neat toilet tucked under the stairs.

We love it and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Louis and Mick at Halo, and everyone that works with them.
